OMG YOU GUIZ. New shiny thing that was just introduced to me by a co-worker: http://bronxflavor.com/
The concept is simple: a low-budget video series on community television (and streaming online, huzzah) starring the super-eccentric "Baron Ambrosia," that spotlights the best local restaurants in the Bronx. There's usually a funny plot to keep the action moving, but along the way the Baron stops and samples whatever's cooking. Guyanese, Kosher, Irish, Indian, and West African cuisine, not to mention about a million more styles and flavors. Every episode has interviews with the chefs and restaurant owners, and even cooler, a brief and informative history of the cuisine and culture. It's like my dream come true: sharing food in a way that's full of joy and humor and deep curiosity for all the wonderful things that are out there.
This site is utterly amazing, and I've wasted half the morning drooling over the food and laughing over the antics. I recommend "The Roti Express" for the hilarious homage to Bollywood fantasy dance sequences, and the glimpse of Jerk Chicken Fried Rice. MMMMMmmmm. OMG WHY SO HUNGRY.
