*g* The thing with being southern Chinese is that families (or at least the ones I know) do tend to be quite obsessive about eating "properly" - having a proper mix of greens and starches, not too much protein or fried foods, etc. - the stuff that primary schools teach in Physical Education/Development. Yin-Yang balance is woven into common consciousness about food. I think it's partly because China is still such a predominantly agricultural country, and fresh produce is cheap.
But everything in moderation, is my motto. I've always eaten what I liked, just in sensible portions. :)
