Title: Perfection.
Rating: PG-ish
Characters: Erik, Charles, Raven
Warnings: Brief mention of past torture; bad dreams.
Summary: If people reach perfection they vanish, you know. -T. H. White
Author's Note: Obligatory will-they-won't-they mansion fic. I did not even attempt mutant politics.

Erik has been trying to read for the last forty-five minutes, in defiance of the periodic screaming coming from the roof.

Considering all the service interruption shenanigans that have been going on in various places, I've decided to also starting posting my fic over at Archive of Our Own.

If you're so inclined, you can find me there. I'll be working on getting older fics posted for the next few weeks.

Pandorica. Ten/Rose, PG-ish and mildly AU. This is a strange and rambling story about memories and other inescapable things. It was written for Challenge 73 at [livejournal.com profile] then_theres_us.

She wonders who came up with that, not sleeping. If they used to sleep before, and someone decided that it was too much time to waste.

Words can't even express
how great this is

I don't know why Johnny doesn't let them all have twitters, I mean between all of them the works of Shakespeare would get banged out. There's apparently a lot of essential information we are missing out on. Like, is Kamenashi also skeptical of sparkling water and/or gummy bears? Does he also consider himself a sensitive guy?

With the help of [livejournal.com profile] devohoneybee (thank you!), I have obtained a Dreamwidth journal. I'm not leaving lj, and I'm not going to stop posting here. But I would like help and advice for setting up the new space- how on earth do I get those stupid journal titles to stop crowding my header? lololol so helpless on a new platform.

I am http://orange-crushed.dreamwidth.org and I would be really happy to see you if you also have a journal over there. :D

Okay, so, based on a conversation about the Doctor Who Series Six trailer that's circulating right now, I want to make a trailer of my own.

VERY MILD SPOILERS AND VERY MILD MACROS UNDER THE CUT. )

Okay, Kamenashi, so you played the drums in your last tour...

...and that was pretty entertaining. But you're going to have to step up your game in the future. Because this guy-

-is rapidly becoming my favorite person on the planet. Work for it, Kamenashi. Work for it.

I want to believe. Ten II/Rose, PG-ish, and probably pretty AU. I don't know. That's the way it seems to always go. This takes place in the same timeline as Series Five's The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang.

Pete keeps telling him he's overworked, and Pete is probably right. You can't remember things that didn't happen. But then: gardenias. Blonde threads curling in the sink, twisted around his fingers. Spinning themselves into gold.

I want to believe.

Those of you in Japan right now, or those of you who have families and loved ones there (and in other affected areas), you're in my thoughts. I hope you're well and safe and that you stay that way. For the rest of us, I'd encourage anyone to make a donation through the Red Cross or another disaster relief agency; our friends are going to need our help.

I don't get into fandom March Madness very much, or mostly at all, but: vote Scully. Just do it. Scully. It's her birthday.

yaaaay

It's gonna feel so great, I promise. Click the button. Scully.

The good fight.

One in five American women have gone to Planned Parenthood. (Me included.) They've gone because they needed to go- because they needed to know if they were pregnant, if they were HIV-positive, if they were at risk for cancer, if they were sick or healthy. They go partly because there are few independent women's health care providers, fewer every year (funny how that happens when people start shooting them). And they go partly because PP has a commitment to making that care affordable, even in the poorest communities. Right now I don't care where you stand on abortion. I care where you stand on people's lives, on their most basic health needs, on the right of every woman to understand her body and to protect that body.

If you feel the same way I do, click that link. Make your voice heard. Make a donation. Get involved. You will be helping someone. Who knows, you may be helping yourself.

Meme stolen from [livejournal.com profile] butterfly, since I have a tiny bit of time to kill and no brainpower for the heavy lifting...

List fifteen of your favorite characters from different fandoms, and ask people to spot patterns in your choices, and if they're so inclined, to draw conclusions about you based on the patterns they've spotted.

Harry Watson Investigates. G, totally G, totally ridiculous. This is, in its own weird way, a sequel to The dangerous book for boys. An AU set in the Sherlock universe, featuring Harry Watson, age eleven; with cameos from our favorite boy detectives. I barely remember being eleven, but I do remember liking rabbits an awful lot.

John keeps his hands in his pockets, except at streetcorners, where he still sometimes tries to get Harry to hang onto his sleeve as they cross. It's embarrassing. She walks ahead of him a little bit, to discourage that kind of thing.

I'm alive.

lol sex

I am a slow-moving object, though. I've been sick on-and-off for like two weeks, and I'm mostly just exhausted. Uncharacteristically exhausted. So, doctor's appointment tomorrow, hopefully they will just laugh at me kindly and tell me to eat more fruit or something.

Working on fic. Slowly. Steadily. Not going to win any races. But you know me, it's not the destination, it's the journey. Actually, no. It's the overuse of metaphor.

Miss you guys. :)

So much traveling. And it was all lovely. But now I am home, and home is even lovelier.

So awesome, omg. But really, to be a big overserious bringdown, I feel like the choices we make, even when they're stupid or impulsive, can lead us to wonderful places. The moments that have already passed are sealed shut; the best thing we can do is learn from them and learn to live with them, and be kind and generous and forgiving with ourselves. I have made many mistakes. So have all my friends. But I love my friends, and all the right and wrong turns we took in life still led us to each other. So Happy New Year to all of you, whom I love and miss and think of often. I wish you good health and happiness to last a lifetime.

Je ne regrette rien
Ni le bien qu'on m'a fait
Ni le mal tout ça m'est bien égal!"

The living end. This was written for prompt #59, "narrative poetry," at [livejournal.com profile] then_theres_us. You've been warned (...for poetry. My rambling, probably nonsensical poetry.) Ten/Rose, G. The short, short time between "A storm's approaching," and "Same old life."

There's a moon,

Strangely enough, this was inspired by [livejournal.com profile] salr323's post for fic writers on UK Christmas traditions. (There was an offhand mention of a foxhunt, and then I googled foxhunting, and ended up with this. Sometimes, I just really have no idea.) It's an imagining of young Sherlock, in the style of a slightly cartoonish children's book illustration. I suppose I should rate this PG, for a small dead animal. You've been warned.

dear doctor who, in your honour i have drunk too much wine

When you see this post, draw a TARDIS from memory and post it on your journal. Crayons, No. 2 pencils, MS Paint, it doesn't matter. In celebration of the ~flexibility~ of canon in the Doctor Who universe, no points are given for accuracy.

ugly tardis

Oh balls that is an ugly tardis. Oh well. Dear Doctor Who, I will love you forever. Thanks for showing me the universe and making me new friends.
