While I enjoyed Voyage of the Damned for the ridiculousness and the danger and the fun characters and of course the UNENDING HOT; something about the over-the-top hero worship, the lonely god taken to the extreme, didn't sit right with me. The Doctor has never struck me as the kind of action hero to walk through a hall of flames in slow motion- he's just not that guy. He's the nerdy guy in trainers and a suit, he's the awkward outsider who's too rude, he's the nutter stringing together Christmas lights and scouring pads and kettles to save the world. He's the hero who doesn't stick around for the parade. And if the companion becomes a kind of mini-parade that follows him around singing his praises, I start to look askance at the writing team. "Do remember that this man is essentially homeless and never changes his clothes," I want to remind them.
