I blame them too. A LOT. BLAME. I think it's one of the major struggles of this pairing (especially for those of us stupid to fall into an OTP and not be able to get up again..) Why didn't you fight for him ?
And I think conflict between Remus and Dumbledore would have come out more, as things progressed, but for that long tumble off a short battlement. They admire and trust each other, and Remus quite probably loves him as a father-figure. But Remus (except for himself, which he is endlessly secretive about) doesn't speak in riddles, and tries to be clear and helpful when he talks with Harry and the gang. And I think the circumstances of Remus's life have given him cause to resent anyone who tries to steer him one way or another. That's nothing to do with Order assignments, etc., as he has a respect for what needs to be done.
