I'm buying a ticket on your "just kidding, guys!" train as laid out below, because I don't wanna live in a world without the Doctor and Rose and cake.

I still reserve the right, however, to imagine Jack getting a novelty postcard and being all, "MEANWHILE, EVERYONE I LOVE JUST DIED, YOU A-HOLE. THANKS." (At which time Ten would tell him to take a chill pill and invite him to participate in the limbo contest.)
