Rewatching Serenity last night and thinking about dialogue; specifically, Joss Whedon's very real knack for turning dialogue into speech. Haven't seen it in forever, and it's so easy to fall into, people talking in their own very real idioms; loving, hurting, becoming.

A sketch of River came out; but honestly what I had in mind was the work ofthe_grynne and hereswith, because they always manage to show me River the person, while she's busy living River the experiment, the legend. I have some re-reading to do this week, you guys. ;)

It's the fist that makes it for me, sweetheart. Wistful and dreaming, the tilt of her head, but at the same time, that fist is so contained, like a ballast to her reverie.

I adore her girlish chubbiness. Gorgeous.

It's beautiful, her face turned skywards, the way her dress folds around her and the pattern on it. Lovliness. And I'm flattered to hear that you had my work, together with the_grynne's, in mind when you drew it :-)
